The Worship Philosophy at North Lanier

Worship is often equated with music or the musical time in a Sunday service. We believe that it is so much more. At North Lanier, worship is lifestyle and a response to who God is and what He's done for us and in us. In the past, many churches would identify worship as a time, but we now believe that it is something we do. God is raising a generation of people that will "worship Him in spirit and in truth."

In every area of the worship ministry, the decisions that are made are based solely on whether or not God will receive His complete glory and honor. Because of that, we've adopted the biblical truths of worship found in Isaiah 6:1-8. We believe there are four points that are drawn from that passage of scripture to guide us as we pray, create, and lead. They are...

1) Confrontation with God - (Is 6:1) Isaiah described God in all His glory and saw Him with his own eyes. We want to create environments where people can sense His very presence and recognize Him for who He is.

2) Confession of self - (Is 6:4) Isaiah saw himself after seeing God when he said "Woe is me..." When we lift God up in worship, our wrongdoings (sin) will be revealed to us. This is not for God to show us how bad we are...but for us to see how holy God is.

3) Cleansing of sin - (Is 6:5-7) Isaiah was made pure and holy as God was holy because of his confession of uncleanliness. It was a process. Forgiveness is ours because of what Christ did on the cross (the ultimate blood sacrifice), but we must receive it to be made holy and just in His presence.

4) Committment to serve - (Is 6:8) - Scripture says "THEN, the Lord spoke." God will speak and we will hear clearly when we're made holy in His presence. God asked "Who will go for us? And Isaiah said 'Here am I, send me." We desire for God's people to leave a worship experience with the heart to go and serve faithfully.
